Try Diving for your 1st time!

Want to try scuba diving?

Your chance to do something new!  No certification or prior training needed.  Whatever your reasons for getting to this page, you have already started your exploration into diving.  We’re excited to have you step N2theBlue!  Even more exciting – you get to dive in what has been rated on the top 5 places to dive for best dive destination, best beginner diving, best underwater photography, and many other bests!

We train, give experiences, and certify scuba using The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) courses and training.  PADI is the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba course. Millions of people have learned to scuba dive and gone on to discover the wonders of the aquatic world through PADI.

How does it work?  Two ways to start:

1)  Try Diving (Discover Scuba Diving)

Plan on 3 hours of fun (includes training and nearly an hour dive!) with the hands on attention from a PADI Instructor.  You start with a 20 minute video that will show you what you’re about to learn & do.  After the video we’ll go through a basic flip-cart, get sized and introduced to your gear, given a quick briefing, then get into chest deep water to practice a few skills.  After successfully practicing a few skills in chest deep water, we’ll slowly go explore the old pier or a nearby beach with all its cool corals, sponges, and wildlife.  There’s even an underwater checkers board at the old pier (with hockey pucks for pieces!).  Your instructor or Divemaster will be right there with you at your side.

If you really like the experience and want to try it a second or third time, good news!  -- you can skip the lessons and jump in with us again!

  • Minimum age: 10 years old

  • Review the medical questionnaire in advance. If you have any concerns or YES answers, talk with your doctor.

2)  PADI Open Water Certification

A full scuba certification takes about 2 days
Start online with  (online classes) from PADI before you jump in the water.  It's about 8-10 hours of video, slides, and quizzes. Then when you get to St. Croix, it's two full days in the water with loads of time to explore and have fun between skills practice.

  • Minimum age: 10 years old

  • You'll need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health.

  • No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

  • Review the medical questionnaire in advance.  If you have any concerns or YES answers, talk with your doctor.
